Baojing and Fenghuang honored for county economic development

Baojing and Fenghuang Counties of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture made the list of 20 advanced counties for the development of county economy in 2023 announced recently.

In 2023, Baojing County made efforts to stabilize growth, adjust structure, promote reform, prevent risks, and ensure people’s livelihoods. Its county economy maintained steady growth. The county has achieved an annual regional gross domestic product of 8.412 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%, ranking first in Xiangxi Prefecture. Besides, it has upgraded characteristic industries, accelerated project construction, promoted rural revitalization, built urban and rural public facilities, improved people’s livelihood, achieved significant results in ecological construction, and prevented risks effectively, embarking on a distinctive county-level economic development path in line with its own reality.

Fenghuang County has seen a strong recovery in cultural tourism and a boom in the agricultural industry. It has also consolidated the new industrial foundation and promoted rural revitalization. It has taken solid steps to pursue high-quality development of its county economy. In 2023, the county achieved a total regional GDP of 10.39 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7%, ranking second in Xiangxi Prefecture. Industrial added value above designated size, per capita disposable income of rural residents, and operating income of service industries above designated size grew significantly.

Main economic indicators such as total fixed assets investment, total retail sales of social consumer goods, and per capita disposable income of urban residents were good. The county was included among the ten typical cases in Hunan for characteristic development path.
